New Album in the works!

Hello again, faithful supportive friends! I hope you are well! :) Here's an update on the progress of my new album (see my Kickstarter page to learn more if you're reading all this for the first time)...
Over the last month we have been receiving the reference mixes (which means these are arrangements of the songs that the producer has been editing) and one by one we have sat with them a bit, listened to them critically, and decided what we connect with and what we feel brings the best version of the song. In that process, we have made itemized notes to assess together with the producer. It's so cool to be able to make changes to things if we feel like the song needs it and not feel "married" to something that doesn't feel right. I'd like to say right here that Jarod Evans, our producer, has done a beautiful job of taking my songs and giving each one a life of it's own. You won't just hear "girl with piano" and tracks that bleed together...but each song has it's own character and life. It really is so cool.
So, last week we met up with our brilliant producer and had a long meeting where we shared notes and edits to the arrangements. There are some songs on this project that have MANY tracks (including lots of background vocal ideas which i love!) which means there are lots of ways to go, and lots of parts to consider! It was so cool to have an idea and then hear it come to fruition right in front of you. This process of getting to the final version of each song has taken longer than I originally predicted, but it is very necessary and vital to me to feel good about each one and not let a personal time table cause us to rush the creative process. For example, one song we listened to in that session, we just really felt needed some key things, and fresh perspective was cast on it, so we will be looking at it now and trying some new things.
At the same time, I have been working with the awesome graphic designer on cover and album design - I am excited about the concept. I feel like it really fits with the title and the overall "journey" of the album. I just had a meeting yesterday with an amazing arts director to get feedback and perspective. I am so grateful for other artsy-smartsy people to glean from.
...and yes, all the countdown continues for Baby Jackson to arrive! Please pray that God's timing is what we lean into and not our own. Sometimes I can get anxious and want to hurry things, but if i let go, He always has better plans and way better timing. - there are so many wonderful new things happening. Thank you for helping make this one happen. I can't WAIT to share it with you!
